Walther

Walther Firearms at Urban Tactical Firearms

Carl Walther opened his shop in Zella-Mehlis, Germany, in 1886. His son Fritz took the company into pistols, and in 1929 he put a reliable double-action semi-auto in the hands of German police. That design, and the compact version that followed two years later, made Walther a household name long before a certain British spy picked one up. After the Second World War the company started over near Ulm, where it still builds handguns today. Since 2012, Walther Arms in Fort Smith, Arkansas has handled the brand in the United States.

Walther likes to say it has 140 years of innovation behind it, and the claim holds up. The company's modern reputation rests on two things: triggers and ergonomics. Walther has spent two decades refining a striker-fired trigger with a short, defined break and a crisp reset, and a grip that fills the hand and points naturally. Walther's own mandate for its current flagship reads "It's your duty to be ready," and every feature on the gun serves that idea: ready to mount an optic, ready to run the slide with wet or gloved hands, ready to break a clean shot under pressure.

The Walther Models We Stock

The Walther selection at Urban Tactical Firearms is built around the PDP, with the rimfire side of the catalog covering training, plinking and small game.

PDP - Performance Duty Pistol

Introduced in 2021, the PDP is the pistol that put Walther on the short list for duty, carry and competition buyers. Every PDP ships optics ready, the SuperTerrain slide serrations stand proud of the slide so you can rack it from any angle, and the Performance Duty Trigger is widely considered the best factory trigger on a striker-fired gun. We stock the PDP in these configurations:

  • PDP Full Size - 4 in, 4.5 in and 5 in barrels. The all-around choice for duty, home defense and range work.
  • PDP Compact - 4 in barrel on a shorter grip. The carry-sized PDP that still shoots like a full-size gun.
  • PDP F-Series - 3.5 in and 4 in barrels. A slimmer grip, shorter trigger reach and a slide that takes noticeably less effort to rack, built for shooters with smaller hands.
  • PDP Pro and Pro-E - 4.5 in, 4.6 in and 5.1 in barrels, many of them threaded. The Pro adds a flared magazine well and a flat-faced trigger; the Pro-E brings those features to a polymer trigger and more sizes, including a compact 4 in version.
  • PDP Pro-X PMM - Walther's first factory-compensated PDP, wearing a Parker Mountain Machine comp that noticeably flattens muzzle climb.
  • PDP Match - 5 in barrel with the Dynamic Performance Trigger, a lighter, flat-faced version of the standard PDP trigger. Race-ready out of the box.
  • PDP Steel Frame - the same fire control in a steel frame that adds weight where you want it. Softer recoil, less muzzle flip, and a serious contender in the competition divisions where a heavier pistol earns its keep.

WMP - Walther Magnum Pistol

A full-size, optics-ready semi-auto chambered in 22 WMR with a 4.5 in barrel and ambidextrous controls. Think of it as a modern kit gun: light recoil, flat shooting, and the reach of a magnum rimfire for small game, pest control and long afternoons on steel.

P22 and P22Q

Walther's compact 22 LR trainer with a 3.4 in barrel, styled after a service pistol rather than a target gun. The P22Q is the updated version with a refreshed slide and grip. Both are a classic first pistol and an easy way to build trigger time on a layout that mirrors a centerfire carry gun.

PPK/S in 22 LR

One of the most recognizable silhouettes in handguns, scaled for rimfire. A 3.3 in barrel, a double-action trigger and the same lines that were on the drawing board in 1931. A plinker with real history behind it.

Tac R1

Walther's AR-pattern 22 LR rifle with a 16.1 in barrel, an M-LOK handguard and flip-up sights. It handles like a centerfire carbine and feeds on 22 LR, which means more range time per trip: a training rifle, a new-shooter rifle and a plinker all at once.
